Meanwhile the IKAT Collection was Inspired by the traditional hand woven IKAT fabric from th eIsland of Flores. Erika wanted to capture the beauty of Bali by utilizing local hand made fabrics. Ikat, or ikkat, is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In ikat the resist is formed by binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. The yarns are then dyed. She took the Sarongs and used the different prints throughout the fabric in different patterns throughout the dresses. Giving the dresses multiple flowing ruffles and full sleeves and skirts.
